Imagination Library

What is the Imagination Library?

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is a free, early literacy program that delivers age-appropriate books to children ages 0 to 5 years old each month.

Encouraging the love of reading and learning early in a child's life helps to develop strong literacy skills.  Statistics and independent reports have shown Dolly Parton's Imagination Library drastically improves early childhood literacy and enhances kindergarten readiness.  Children read more when they have books at home.  A follow up study released August 2015 compares the kindergarten readiness of children who participated in Imagination Library for at least three or four years of the program vs. children who did not participate.  The results shows a 28.9% increase in the number of children who were prepared for kindergarten based on this measure.

To register your child who lives in the Terrace area, fill out a registration form and drop it off or mail it to The Terrace Women's Resource Centre.

Donate to Imagination Library

Donate here to help keep Imagination Library going. Dollywood Foundation covers the cost of books but we cover the cost of postage. Help us reach our goal to sign up all families in Terrace. The program costs the host agency $3.55/book. That works out to be $31,950 a year to help support every child in Terrace under the age of 5 to receive a free book in the mail every month.
