Dear Terrace and Area Community,
Thank you for your ongoing patience and grace as Terrace Women’s Resource Society processes the immense sense of loss in losing our not just our funding, but the amazing staff that worked diligently to create safe, accessible, inclusive and respectful spaces and programs:
*The Social Service Coordinator will be working within reduced hours to remain actively supporting community members who are facing multiple vulnerabilities as well as supporting the UBC and Terrace Collective: Community Wellbeing Research Project.
*The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program will continue to support individuals to navigate and complete the 2023 Income Tax submission process on Wednesdays from 10:00 to 3:00.
Please note hours and availability may vary depending on staff and volunteers
The following programs are no longer offered at the centre:
- Child Care Resource and Referral (CCRR)
- Gain Resilience, Ingenuity and Resilience (GRIT)
- Drop in Accessibility Services
- Imagination Library
The Board is using this time to step back, catch our breath and re-vision how to continue to meet the diverse needs of the community. During this time of reflection, planning and development, we remain committed to continued engagement with the community in providing safe, accessible spaces.
As a pillar within the community, the Centre has experienced many cycles of abundance and scarcity over its nearly 45 years and has sustained its important work and positive community impacts. Although we are unsure of how it will “look”, we are determined and commi^ed to a conNnued mandate of building community, reducing barriers, and promoNng equity in Terrace and beyond.
We were encouraged by the outpouring of support and kindness over the last few months and we'd like to build on that momentum and collaborative energy:
Please join us for coffee and tea, connection and open discussions at the Centre on Saturdays and Sundays, from 1-4pm, all through April and beyond.
Please follow TWRCS on Facebook to stay informed on future engagement sessions, Centre openings and possible programming and services as we walk together on the path forward for the Centre.
Please share this information with your networks. We look forward to seeing you throughout April and beyond!
